So last night was the long-awaited Billy Joel concert. Truth be told, I have never paid as much for a concert ticket before-I think my ticket was $60+dollars (times that by two for Hallie's ticket). Was it worth it you may ask? Yes, here's why:
Billy Joel has been a staple in my life. My earliest memories of liking music-REALLY liking it, are of listening to Billy Joel with my parents as a young, young child. Throughout the years I have branched out to many genres of music, spending most of my time in punk rock, hardcore and indie rock music, but Billy Joel has always been a priority throughout all the music I have found over the years and each song and album have meaning and could represent a different part of my life.
As he hit the first key on the piano, I had chills run down my back and more memories of both good and bad times then my brain knew how to process came like a flash flood and I'll admit, I fought back a few tears from all the emotion. Sissy of me? Maybe, but whatever. He played for over two hours and mused us with his great sense of humor and amazing catalogue of songs. It's true, he is getting older, but he shows no signs of it in his performing. Though I do envy those like my dad (and mom, I think) who were older and able to see him in a small bar/club before he gained his arena show status.
The Piano Man sang us a song...many...and did a damn fine job.

So good to hear of some other Billy supporters I would've never guessed!
Jackie-that is amazing to be able to say Billy Joel was your first concert. Do you remember what year it was?
Cayle-I always knew you had good taste in music, but I just gained a newfound respect for you.
Oh, and Mandy-
I first saw him in 1999 on his solo tour before years of the two together...
Call us when you're back if you're not too busy, Ms. Popular...
Ahhhh, so JEALOUS! I was so torn and really wanted to go but in the end couldn't justify spending so much $$ so close to Christmas. Because if I was going to see Billy Joel, I sure as hell wasn't going to buy a crappy ticket! Glad you guys had a good time!
I am jealous.
Billy Joel has always been a Crowley favorite. I would not be surprised if one day I went to my parents house and saw Billy's photo mixed in with a collage of photos of my family.
My relief society president mother went to his concert in 1999 and lost her voice for a week from her uncontrollable screaming.
I have never seen him in concert and have never had the chance. I have never lived in a city where he toured when he toured.
I am jealous.
Wish you could have come too James! It was quite a night!
