Friday night Hallie and I ventured out on what could be our last pre-baby date and saw Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist, which we both enjoyed a great deal. If you like Michael Cera, then this movie is a must. I would describe it as Can't Hardly Wait+High Fidelity. An enjoyable view, but my short story begins directly after viewing this new classic.
Immediately following the movie, Hallie went to use the restroom and I waited right outside the theatre doors as people flied out. As I leaned against a wall, I noticed a guy a few feet to my right doing the same, I didn't really think anything of it and just figured he was waiting for someone as I was. After a minute he leans over and asks how long I've been growing my beard for and says he wished he could grow one like mine. It wasn't too entirely weird, but then he proceeds to tell me I look like, "...a poet or philosopher or artist," to that, I had no real response besides, "I wish." Thankfully Hallie came out right after that and before things got really weird, because they certainly were heading in that direction.
Within minutes we were heading east on 200 south on our way home with our windows down, enjoying the beautiful night air. While stopped at a red light, I heard a scooter motor humming to our right and turned my head and the guy on the scooter goes: "Beard dude! Hey!" Yes, that's right, it was the same guy from the theatre. I said, "Hi," and the light turned green. Then the next light turned red and the next and the next. It was ridiculous. Each light we were paired right next to the guy and each time it became increasingly more awkward, to the point where Hallie asked if she could roll her window up or if we could pass him. It was hilarious...and strange. Finally he turned and we didn't have to worry about seeing him at each stop light anymore-phew!
*For the record, I've now been told on different occasions that I look like a rock star/lead singer in a band, Stone Temple Pilot lead singer, a poet, a philosopher and an artist. I really hit the jackpot with this last weirdo though, three "Look-likes," in one awkward encounter!

A POET? A PHILOSOPHER? AN ARTIST?

Ha! I wonder if Jason got so much attention with that beard of his.
I want to hear more about Nick & Nora. I was worried Michael Cera would be the only good thing about it so I haven't been too interested. But I like Can't Hardly Wait and High Fidelity so now my interest is piqued.
I have wanted to see that movie, too - it's good to hear that it's worth it.
That's a totally weird situation with that dude who liked your beard. That would have creeped me out! I'm glad he didn't follow you home!
This story almost made me laugh out loud in the middle of class.
Theres a Socratic quality to the picture in this post.
I love the awkward light after light thing. It gets so ridiculous when you know that both parties are trying their best to be nonchalant, but are really just uncomfortable.
